Pictures of our children, most of them taken at a vbs earlier this year.
I'll put a note under who most of them belong to, a lot of them to the orphanage, some to me and many of them our my cousins, evidently I have a very large family here.
To be fair I have had to tell and remind our teacher that the children we care for or are related to me are not to be treated any different and actually to hold them more accountable than the children that do not come from a Christian family. It has been good because we show a level of care about the children education that the teachers are coming to press other parents to do.
There are probably more related to me than I know about. When one uncle has 13 kids the relation to community quickly tightens.
At the end of this page I would say is some pretty bewildering information. I have finally got the children medical information on the computer and well; it is difficult to know these children have survived such radical diseases already at such a young age and we have a number of students out right now with things like typhoid. Cambodia's infant mortality rate in the last survey is @ 5.54%.
So initials A.G.H.O. is from the orphanage.

We currently have 154 students.
The our children has or has had these medical conditions.
Tuberculosis (TB) 6
Typhoid 37
Dengue fever 48
Malaria 4
Chicken Pox 59
Measles 29
Asthma 5
Broken Bones 3
Head injuries 14
breathing problems 35
Stomach problems 8
Dental problems 94
Many of our children have or had one or more of these health issues.
Many of the children parents didn't fully acknowledge medical problems either out of embarrassment or they simply don't know. I know for a fact these numbers are probably double. 99% of our children have dental problems while only 94 felt the need to report it.
The reason is poverty and lack of education. They didn't have toothbrushes, they might not know how to use it properly if they do have one. Even if they did have and know how it doesn't matter because all the kids suck on sugar cane all day long.
The solution; EDUCATION!!!! Education could combat 9 of the 12 health issues. Education can break the poverty, wealth can solve nearly all the health problems.
Example just buying a mosquito net can help end, Malaria, and Dengue fever.
You can buy a water filter but you have to educate them how and more importantly why to use them.
Wealth with out wisdom is a waste.
We have 4000 kids in attendance at the local schools with in 1/2 mile radios from our house.
According to statistics this is only 87% of the school age children.
It is realistic to say we will not reach many of these kids, but how may we reach who we effect is completely up to you.
